Who we are

We help left-behind communities and others others who want to improve life in their local area. We do this by helping residents and local staff with regeneration and community development projects.

2MD was established in 1999 and incorporated as 2MD Regeneration Ltd in 2008.

The 2MD People

Julian Mellor is an economic and community regeneration consultant. He started his career as a Chartered Surveyor in Kent and Bristol before retraining as a planner and then moving into economic development and finally managing an area based regeneration team. In 2002 he left the public sector for the freedom of consultancy work.

Julian has extensive experience of property development, asset transfer, the needs of the voluntary and community sectors, community involvement, economic regeneration and the statutory planning system. Julian has also been trained in facilitation techniques. He is a Trustee of Somerset Film. In 2005 he set up 10Radio and was Chair of Directors until 2013.  He was also a non-executive director of Friends of the Earth Ltd from 1999-2006 and a governor of Wiveliscombe Primary School.

2MD has worked with colleagues from a number of backgrounds. They include:

  • Helen Miller and Jonathon Gledson from Miller Design, a graphic design company based in Bristol.
  • Hugh Nettelfield, retired architect based in Bristol
  • Helen Bone and Halina Pasiecznik of Vivid Regeneration in Bristol
  • Tim Selman, landscape professional based in Shropshire

2MD believes:

  • That we must always make a difference to the place and people with whom we work.
  • That communities must be involved in decision making on matters that will affect their futures.
  • That good decision making comes from listening to and understanding all points of view.
  • That strong leadership comes from personal commitment and a shared vision.
  • That injustice and exclusion undermines the long term viability of communities and society.
  • That we should live as we preach by personally taking part in voluntary and community work and constantly working to reduce our environmental impact.
